Syd Brock, Editor and Chief
My name is Syd Brock and I am seventeen and a senior at El Paso High School. This is my fourth year on the newspaper staff and my third year in an editorial position. I identify as gender fluid and use they/them pronouns and plan to major in journalism in college (with a minor in art). Afterwards I want to pursue a career in investigative journalism. I’ve always considered myself an advocate for feminists and the LGBTQ community and more interested in the social issues within journalism in the United States. I’ve always had a profound love for writing and using my voice to spread what I believe is right. As well as participating in newspaper, I’ve also been apart of yearbook, drama club, and had art in a gallery in downtown El Paso. I love music and going to local shows and greatly consider myself a right brained individual. My biggest inspiration in my life has been my mother, which sounds like a cliche but i mean it whole heartingly. She taught me that one voice has the power to change the world, and that’s what I’m here to do.
