The Tatler

Pierce Davis, Webmaster

My name is Pierce Davis and I am a member of the Class of 2018.

I have been a student at El Paso High School since my freshman year and I have grown up within the environment. My mother and grandmother both attended El Paso High School and for that reason the school means so much to me.

Having that tradition in my family makes me take pride in my school. I treat being a Tiger as a privilege. I get to be a part of a culture that isn’t happening anywhere else is El Paso.

Being a Tiger is an honor and I would love to be able to share my perspective of this with everyone around me. That is why I joined newspaper; to share my privilege with everyone else and show them just how great it is to be a Tiger.

This is my first year doing newspaper and although I don’t have as much experience as some of the other members of the class, I am willing to work just as hard as any of them. As a member of the class my roles include brainstorming, writing, and designing the website.

One of my initiatives as a new member was to redesign and keep up with the Tiger News webpage. As a class we hope to go digital with a lot of our content. My goal is to help push for this and lead the change from traditional paper to more accessible digital stories.

However, we don’t plan to completely eliminate the traditional paper. Although it is declining it is still a unique feature of our high school that I value.

To me, the El Paso High newspaper is more than just a printed piece of text. It is a tradition that has been carried out for decades.

I plan to keep up the tradition and the reputation behind the Tatler. It is something that separates us from the other high schools in El Paso.  We are the only high school good enough to bear the cities name and that is something I would like to keep up.

There is a fine line between the digital and traditional news. I understand this and it is my hope to maintain both. They feed off of one another and they each have their advantages.

Overall, I look forward to contributing to the success of the news at El Paso High. With the right combination of digital and traditional media, I believe we will maintain the level of excellence that our school is used to.

I look forward to what the upcoming year has to offer. With the centennial celebrations, there will be a surplus of material to bring to the table. It is my honor to be able to present this information and to make a difference.
