As a new school year gets back into rhythm, the new class of freshman have begun to get the hang of things and have discovered what high school is all about.
“When I was younger, I used to think high school was going to be like a Disney movie, but it was like the opposite of that,” freshman Sophia Lopeztello said.
One of the hardest things the freshmen must get used to is the different school hours and trying to fit extracurricular activities into their busy schedules.
“ I have found it hard to do certain things with how much time school takes up,” freshman Ian Flores said.
It has also been an issue to get to class on time due to the crowding in the halls. Students find the sheer number of people to be one of the biggest problems with the school.

“The most challenging thing I’ve had to deal with is just trying to get through the hallways and not be late to class,” Sophia said.
Some freshmen have also had some trouble adjusting to the long school hours in each class, though others might find that they enjoy the experience.
“I thought it would have been eight classes a day like in middle school […but] there’s only four periods in every class in every day, so it’s kind of cool like that,” freshman Raul Arcos Alvarado said.
Although some freshman may face challenges, they still have their favorite thing they’ve discovered about high school.
“[I like] the freedom students have, like how we can go off campus for lunch,” Sophia said.
In addition to this, many freshman also have ambitions about their plans for the rest of the school year.
“I want to have an A Honor Roll,” Ian said.
Each freshmen has something they want to gain from high school whether it is to get a job, become smarter or even just to make fun memories with friends.
“I hope to gain a good experience in high school like all the stories I have heard from other people,” Sophia said.
In the end, the newest generation of mighty tigers will have a welcoming to El Paso High.
This year’s freshmen want to share their academic aspirations with future classes and hope to bestow useful advice for all future EPHS freshmen.
“I hope to gain a good experience in high school like all the stories I have heard from other people,” Sophia said.
